Six Paddocks is 10.5 acre block of mixed farming. We are located in Merriwa, NSW (in the Upper Hunter Valley).

We practise chemical-free farming. We are committed to local, seasonal produce with a focus on biodiversity and sustainability.

Ensuring a balanced approach

Sustainable

Every day it rains brings us a day closer to drought. Every day we’re in drought, brings us a day closer to rain. It’s with this in mind that we balance our farming practises. For example, our garlic is water-hungry so we limit our planting and offset this with drought-resistant crops such as old man salt bush.

Drought tolerant

We know our area is prone to drought so we have planted natives and other drought tolerate crops in anticipation of the likelihood of water restrictions and low/no rainfall.

Frost tolerant

We live in a frost prone area so we have planted different varieties of salt bush, stone fruits and other frost tolerant and frost reliant plants - including natives and European varieties.

Biodiversity

Aside from managing the possibility of drought and frost, we also aim for a high degree of biodiversity. For us it's about "a little bit of everything".
